U.S. SALES ONLY
This replaces the combo anode that came with your tank. Fits all brands of all sizes of glass-lined steel residential heaters with 3/4-inch ports and a combo anode in the hot port of the heater and hanging straight down. If a tank is larger than 80 gallons, tell us. The anode may need some adjustment of its output. This is for use with Bradford Whites, and some A.O. Smiths and States.
Don't use in stainless steel or galvanized tanks, or the A.O. Smith Vertex. Not recommended for multi-anode indirect heaters.
IMPORTANT! If you have an electric water heater made after April 2015 by A.O. Smith, Lochinvar, State, Kenmore, Reliance, American, Maytag or Whirlpool, let us know because you'll need a pipe nipple longer than four inches.

WHAT DOES IT DO?The anode will keep your tank from rusting and breaking, while alleviating odor problems because of anaerobic bacteria found in some water that react with regular magnesium or aluminum anodes to produce hydrogen sulfide gas and a rotten-egg odor.
In water heaters with softened water but no odor issues, it provides a permanent replacement for sacrificial anodes, which are often consumed rapidly in softened water and thus, require frequent replacement.
It IS possible to use in any heater, but if you replace a sacrificial anode in a tank without a softener in hard water, we strongly recommend also putting in a sediment flush kit -- and actually flushing the heater every six months. Sediment buildup can bury the bottom of the heater, cutting it off from the anode's protection.
If you have a vacation cabin where the water heater sits idle, it may be that, no matter what anode you put in it, the water will still smell bad. We don't want you to buy a powered anode if it won't solve your problem. You might do better to replumb your water heater to allow hydrogen peroxide to easily be added. That WILL solve the problem. IMPORTANT: BEFORE YOU ORDER
This anode must replace the one that came with the tank or the smell won't go away. If your tank has two anodes, the second one must also be removed.
If you have a power vent heater, the power connector will stick up 4-5 inches above the top of the tank and may prevent reinstallation of the vent housing.
